National Financial Wellbeing Summit – Sydney

As part of our ongoing commitment to building a future in which all people can achieve their best financial wellbeing, Ecstra hosted a Financial Wellbeing Summit on Thursday 6 November 2025.
With Effie Zahos, 9News Money Editor as MC, and opening remarks from Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Financial Services, the Hon Dr Daniel Mulino MP (pre-recorded), keynote speakers ASIC Commissioner Alan Kirkland, Hon. Professor Roslyn Russell and the OECD’s Miles Larbey set the scene for thought-provoking discussions.
Our panels explored the drivers of inequality, the balance between education and regulation, and the power of collaboration to strengthen financial, mental and social wellbeing.
Ecstra CEO Caroline Stewart closed the Summit with a clear message: strengthening financial wellbeing requires working together across policy, education, systems and communities under a renewed national strategy – led by government and backed by stable funding, clear accountability and measurable outcomes.

Coinciding with the release of a new module on scams for schools in the Talk Money with Ecstra Foundation program, Ecstra is exploring the complex world of scams, deceptive design practices and online safety issues that young people navigate. The panel discussed how we can better equip and protect young people, including the role of policy responses and frameworks.

Our May event supported the launch of Ecstra Foundation’s 2025 national financial education in schools survey results.
Ecstra commissioned YouGov to survey students, parents and teachers across Australia about their attitudes, behaviours and experience relating to money and financial education. The results provide new and valuable insights into what money topics students want to learn more about, teacher feedback on how to make financial education more effective, parents views on financial education and digital financial literacy.
